a crystal cricket

A crystal cricket wiggles its glassy antennae as it hops past.

Crickets sure grow big in these parts.  This one is the size of a bread loaf.  Made entirely from thin panes of glass, it looks rather fragile.  By rubbing its two wings together, it produces a delicate, high-pitched tinkling noise, like wind chimes.
