The long, wooden shaft, like the spine of a human, provides the backbone of the damaging weapon.  A sharp, iron tip adorns the shaft, providing the point to a weapon capable of killing a man in a single blow.  Symbols are engraved into the shaft.  Some seem to represent humans, while others appear to represent the animals of the icescape, as though the carvings were meant to show a great hunt.  Small lines in between each series of carvings seem to imply that this spear has been passed down from generation to generation, a family heirloom in a family where killing was a necessity.
