The sword is obviously not intended to be fully functional.  The blade is thick around the edges and has probably never been sharpened.  The cross-guard is a model of a bird of some sort; however, the detail work is extremely lacking and it is difficult to clearly define what type of bird it is.  With obviously amateurish quality, the word 'Morwen' has been carved down one side of the blade.
