Something from the deep pit reaches for shoes and boots!
It seems to have at least 10 arms, with more than the normal number of fingers - tentacles almost! So many things to slap, hit, and hurt! It greatly seems to enjoy when there is a scream of pain or whenever it gets to inflict some type of torture. Good thing it sleeps most of the time. Good thing it needs this deep pit of water to survive and can't roam free through the marsh.
